POSITION DESCRIPTION

At Bright Silicon Technologies we are building precision optical systems to guide data for a new era of communication.  Our technology introduces an unprecedented level of precision, agility, and versatility to directing light. We are experts in precision engineering, optical design and product development who are delivering technological breakthroughs to revolutionize photonics.  The LDA has the potential to revolutionize optical system markets such as laser communication terminals for terrestrial and satellite mesh networks, optical switching for data centers, LIDAR for autonomous car and drones, 3D printing of metals, and many others. 
Bright, located in Livermore/Pleasanton, Ca, is seeking a motivated and talented engineering intern. We are a small team pioneering the state-of-the-art in solid-state optical beam-control. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a small team to gain hands-on experience and contribute to real-world projects in a collaborative and exciting environment.
Employment Type: Full-Time Temporary
Primary Location: USA-CA-Livermore
Base Pay Range: $25–35 / hr
Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed above reflects the minimum and maximum pay for this position in the primary location identified in this posting however, base pay offered may vary depending on internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the design, testing, and implementation of industrial engineering projects under the guidance of a senior engineer. Projects can include
    • Process improvement based on experimental tests (DOE, data analysis)
    • Design for manufacturability and design documentation (DFM)
    • Supply chain and inventory management processes– Materials Resource Planning (MRP)
    • Quality process development & statistical process control
    • Process standardization (Standard Work, SOP, PFMEA, etc.)
    • Capital equipment planning
  • Conduct research and data analysis to support ongoing projects..
  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of technical documentation, including manuals, specifications, and reports.
  • Take part in project meetings and presentations, offering insights and ideas.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering or other engineering field with an interest in manufacturing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A passion for learning and a desire to apply academic knowledge in real-world settings.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
An ideal candidate would have familiarity with:
  • Experience with, Solidworks or Excel
  • Strong interest in manufacturing and production processes

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The position requires a combination of sedentary work and working in a controlled environment reviewing equipment, process development and production.
  • Will work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body.
  • There will be periodic exposure to manufacturing environments which may present hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, and other automated and manual machinery.
